The United States is on the verge of minting its final penny. After more than 230 years of continuous production, the Philadelphia Mint is scheduled to strike its last batch of one-cent coins on Wednesday. While these familiar coins will remain in circulation, their gradual phase-out has already led some businesses to adjust prices, citing the increasing difficulty in finding pennies.
