Bayern's 16-game winning streak is over.
The game took a surprising turn when Bayern fell behind; Danilho Doekhi's shot, coming after a corner, managed to sneak past keeper Manuel Neuer. In fact, it was the first time all season that they had found themselves trailing in a match or conceded a goal before halftime. But Union's lead didn't last long, as Diaz netted his third goal in just two games – and what a spectacular strike it was! From what looked like a lost cause after Josip Stanisic's perfectly weighted pass appeared to be heading out, Diaz miraculously kept the ball in play on the byline with three exquisite touches, spun past his marker, and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the near post from an incredibly tight angle.
Harry Kane, who had a surprisingly subdued afternoon, inadvertently set up Union's second goal when he headed a free-kick straight to Doekhi, who then calmly slotted it past Neuer. Yet, the England captain showed his class, making amends in the 93rd minute by powerfully heading home Tom Bischof's cross, bagging his 13th Bundesliga goal of the campaign.
Looking ahead, Bayern will be back in action after the international break with a home game against Freiburg on Saturday, November 22nd, at 14:30 GMT. Meanwhile, Union Berlin will journey to Hamburg to face St Pauli on Sunday, November 23rd, at 16:30 GMT.
