The Nigerian sensation had already bagged three goals in the competition before this match, thanks to a brace against Bodo/Glimt and a decisive winner against Premier League champions Liverpool. His incredible treble against Ajax now rockets his season tally to six, sending him straight to the top of the Champions League scoring charts!

After a tight, cagey first half, Osimhen finally broke the deadlock in the 59th minute. He met Leroy Sané’s perfectly placed cross with a spectacular diving header, leaving the keeper with no chance. Just minutes later, he doubled Galatasaray's lead from the penalty spot. The referee pointed to the spot after Youri Baas was penalised for handball, a decision confirmed by VAR, and Osimhen calmly slotted the ball past Remko Pasveer.

He sealed his unforgettable hat-trick in the 78th minute, converting yet another penalty after substitute Gerald Alders was caught handling the ball. This emphatic performance secured Galatasaray's biggest European win of the season.

The vital victory now puts the Turkish champions on nine points from four matches, marking their best-ever start to a Champions League campaign and firmly placing them on track for the coveted round of 16. On the flip side, Ajax remains rooted at the bottom of the group, having suffered their fourth consecutive defeat.

Looking ahead, Galatasaray will next go head-to-head with Belgian champions Union St. Gilloise, while Ajax will be desperate to secure their first victory of the tournament against Jose Mourinho’s Benfica. Osimhen's historic triple makes him only the second Galatasaray player ever to score a Champions League hat-trick, joining Burak Yilmaz, who achieved the feat back in 2012.

American sprinter Melissa Jefferson-Wooden achieved an incredible gold-medal sweep at the recent World Championships, but surprisingly, she's expressed that she's "not satisfied" with her performance.

Just over a year ago, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden proudly claimed a bronze medal for her third-place finish in the women's 100m sprint at the Paris Olympics. While the coveted title of "Fastest Woman on Earth" eluded her then, her infectious smile and vibrant energy were undeniable. Fast forward to September 21st of this year, and that radiant smile was back, but this time, the medal around Jefferson-Wooden's neck shone with an even more brilliant gleam. The South Carolina native had just secured her third gold medal at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, following stunning triumphs in the 100m, 200m, and by running the opening leg of the 4x100m relay. The sprint triple crown is, namely so, the jewel of track and field. Jefferson-Wooden’s name is instantly placed in the same stratosphere as some of the greats – the only other woman in history to achieve the feat in the World Championships is legendary Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Esteemed company, indeed.

West Ham, now managed by Nuno Espírito Santo, have struggled with inconsistency and remain vulnerable from set pieces, an issue their manager has admitted could weigh on the team psychologically if not resolved. The Gunners may be without Brazilian defender Gabriel, who picked up a minor knock during the week.
