Roma defeated Udinese 2-0 to take the lead in Serie A.
Roma's win was sealed with goals on either side of halftime. Lorenzo Pellegrini converted a penalty in the 42nd minute after Hassane Kamara handled the ball in the box, sending Udinese's goalkeeper Maduka Okoye the wrong way. Zeki Celik then netted the second goal just after the hour mark, converting a cut-back from Gianluca Mancini. This crucial win propelled Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to the top of the table with 24 points from 11 matches.
Despite Udinese creating opportunities in the final 20 minutes, Roma's goalkeeper Mile Svilar was in top form, thwarting attempts from both Nicolo Zaniolo and Vakoun Issouf Bayo to keep their clean sheet intact.
Earlier, Napoli missed a golden chance to capitalize on AC Milan's slip-up against Parma on Saturday. Napoli, who had led by two goals, could only manage a 2-2 draw, and then went on to lose to Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Bologna broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half with a precise shot from Thijs Dallinga, set up by a superb cross from Nicolo Cambiaghi. They sealed their 2-0 victory in the 66th minute when Jhon Lucumi headed a cross from the right into Napoli’s top right corner. This win moved Bologna into fifth place, just one point behind Napoli.
Looking ahead, Inter Milan, currently three points behind Roma, has the chance to become the new Serie A leaders by the end of Sunday if they defeat Lazio, thanks to their superior goal difference.
In other Serie A clashes, Sassuolo secured a convincing 3-0 win against Atalanta, while struggling Genoa played out a 2-2 draw with bottom-placed Fiorentina.
